Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War

Based in Central Maryland, Garfield Camp serves the area as part of the Department of the Chesapeake, a region that includes Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) is a volunteer, non-profit, charitable, fraternal, patriotic and educational organization. The SUVCW is officially recognized as the Grand Army of the Republic's legal successor, receiving its Congressional Charter in 1954 (Public Law 605).

With over six thousand members, the SUVCW is the largest organization of descendants of Union Civil War veterans in the United States.

Programs

Through a variety of educational programs, ceremonial observances, and fraternal events, the Garfield Camp serves to honor and remember the soldiers who preserved the Union and the causes they defended.
